SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Autism Support ???? LS9, Leeds ???? Full-Time | Long-Term Position ???? Primary School
We are looking for an experienced and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in the LS9 area of Leeds. This is a long-term role providing 1:1 support to two pupils with Autism, with the position split between a Year 3 pupil in the morning and a Year 1 pupil in the afternoon.
The Role
AM - Year 3 In the mornings, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with diagnosed Autism. The child currently requires support outside of the main classroom, so you will need to be confident working independently, keeping them engaged and managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way.
PM - Year 1 In the afternoons, you will work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with Autism. The child has limited verbal communication, although they are not non-verbal, so experience supporting communication and building positive relationships would be beneficial. The child does have intimate-care needs, although this element is currently supported by another member of staff.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with Autism/SEND
- Is confident working 1:1 with primary-aged pupils
- Has strong behaviour-management skills
- Can remain calm, patient and consistent
- Is comfortable supporting children outside the traditional classroom environment
- Can adapt their approach to two children with different needs
- Is looking for a full-time, long-term position
This would be a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant who enjoys 1:1 work and wants to build consistent relationships with pupils who need additional support throughout their school day.
If you have strong Autism/SEND experience and are looking for your next long-term role in Leeds, apply today.
