Pastoral Officer - Full-Time, Long-Term Role
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: October Half Term 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)
About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Officer for a full-time, long-term position starting from October Half Term 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement, working closely with students, families, and school staff to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.
The role would suit candidates with experience in education, youth work, mentoring, pastoral care, social care, or behaviour support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff
- Support students with attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing concerns
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions
- Monitor student progress and identify barriers to learning
- Work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams, and senior leaders
- Help promote positive behaviour and student engagement
- Liaise with external agencies and support services where required
- Maintain accurate records and reports relating to student support
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

- Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or support setting
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to support students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Passionate about improving outcomes for young people
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider pastoral team
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
