SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Secondary School
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: Immediate / September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)
About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Bradford to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with additional needs within a mainstream school environment. You will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEND team to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The role would suit individuals with experience in education, care, youth work, residential support, coaching, or anyone with a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND
- Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum and engaging in lessons
- Implement support strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Encourage student independence, confidence, and social development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral staff
- Monitor progress and provide feedback where required
- Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills

- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
