Speech & Language Therapist - Primary School (Wakefield WF3)
Primary schools across WF3 (Wakefield) are looking for a dedicated Speech & Language Therapist to provide targeted support for pupils with communication and language needs. This is a rewarding role working 1:1 with children, helping them develop speech, understanding, social communication and confidence in the classroom.
You'll work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to deliver personalised interventions, create structured plans, and help pupils access learning through improved communication skills. The role requires someone experienced, patient and confident supporting children who may have additional needs such as ASD, speech delays, language processing difficulties or social communication challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 speech and language interventions tailored to individual pupil needs
- Assess communication difficulties and create targeted support plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs to embed strategies in the classroom
- Support pupils with speech clarity, expressive/receptive language and social communication
- Track progress and maintain clear, accurate records
- Provide guidance to staff to help reinforce communication strategies throughout the school day
