Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional learning needs? Do you have experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, coaching, residential care, or similar support-based roles?
A large and inclusive secondary academy in the Redcar area is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on an ongoing supply basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to students who require additional support to access learning and achieve their potential.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 support for students with SEND needs
- Supporting small groups within the classroom
- Working closely with teaching staff to promote engagement and progress
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Helping students develop confidence, independence and social skills
- Supporting learning across a range of subjects and year groups
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Confident building positive relationships with students
- Patient, resilient and adaptable in their approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience within schools is desirable but not essential
- Backgrounds in care, youth work, coaching, mentoring or support work are welcomed
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential)
- Ability to provide references covering recent employment
