1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School
Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Wakefield that is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs.
This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to help a child access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within a mainstream classroom setting. The school prides itself on its inclusive approach and strong pastoral support, ensuring every child receives the guidance they need to succeed.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs on a 1:1 basis.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised learning strategies.
- Support the pupil's academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the child.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence where appropriate.
- Build strong relationships with parents, teachers, and external professionals.
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and support plans.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school, care, or support setting.
- Has experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or other additional needs.
- Is patient, nurturing, and resilient.
- Can build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is confident supporting children both within the classroom and during unstructured times.
- Holds GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Holds a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one through Veritas Education.
