Science Technician - Full-Time, Long-Term Role

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)

About the Role

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful Science department and play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure laboratories are fully equipped, safe, and prepared for engaging scientific learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment for practical Science lessons
  • Support teachers with practical demonstrations and experiments
  • Maintain Science laboratories, equipment, and resources
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and CLEAPSS guidance
  • Manage stock levels and order materials and equipment as required
  • Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks of equipment
  • Assist with the organisation and storage of chemicals and resources
  • Support students and staff during practical activities where required
  • The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory, school, or scientific environment is desirable
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the Science department
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
