About the Role
Veritas Education are working in partnership with an all-through specialist provision in Stockton on Tees to recruit a Behaviour & Learning Mentor for a long-term opportunity starting in September.
This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour across both primary and secondary age groups.
You will play a key role in helping students access education, regulate behaviour and build positive relationships within a supportive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Support behaviour management strategies both in and out of the classroom
- Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils to promote engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Support students to develop emotional regulation and social skills
We welcome applications from candidates who are:
- Experienced working with children or young people with behavioural needs
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
- Calm, resilient and able to manage challenging situations
- Strong communicators who can build trust and rapport quickly
Ideal backgrounds include:
- Teaching Assistant / SEN experience
- Youth work, sports coaching or mentoring
- Residential care / support work
- Psychology graduates or those pursuing a career in education
