Job Title: Part-Time Science Teacher (KS3/KS4)
Location: Ormskirk, Lancashire Contract Type: Part-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Science Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Ormskirk, supporting pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons that help pupils develop scientific understanding, curiosity, confidence, and practical learning skills.
This role is ideal for a teacher who is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every pupil can achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs
- Differentiate teaching to support pupils with SEN including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
- Teach a broad Science curriculum across KS3 and KS4, including practical and investigative learning opportunities
- Create a structured, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
- Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Use creative and adaptable teaching strategies to promote engagement and progress
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic achievement
- Ensure practical Science activities are delivered safely and inclusively
Requirements
- QTS/QTLS (essential)
- Experience teaching Science across KS3 and/or KS4
- Previous experience working within SEN or alternative provision settings is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach to teaching and learning
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
