We are seeking an ambitious, creative and inspiring Head of Drama to lead our thriving Drama Department and drive excellence in performing arts across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate teacher with strong leadership skills to shape an engaging curriculum, deliver outstanding performances and inspire students of all abilities.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of raising achievement at GCSE level and a passion for developing young people through performance and creativity.
About the Role
As Head of Drama, you will:
- Lead and develop the Drama Department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning
- Deliver engaging and challenging Drama lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Direct and produce high-quality school performances and productions
- Motivate and inspire students regardless of their starting points
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment
- Lead curriculum development in line with current educational thinking and the National Curriculum
- Support and develop colleagues within the department
- Promote inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities through the performing arts
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Excellent knowledge of performing arts and directing performances
- Strong understanding of current educational practice and the National Curriculum
- Successful experience teaching Drama at GCSE level with good or better outcomes
- Evidence of raising achievement and adding value for student groups
- Experience of leadership and managing change effectively
- Experience of working collaboratively to deliver successful outcomes
- A strong understanding of how children learn and how standards can be raised

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong IT literacy
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues and external stakeholders
- Ability to establish a positive presence across the school
