School Caretaker
SEMH Primary-Secondary School Location: Orpington, BR6 Start Date: ASAP Contract: Long-term
We are seeking a reliable and experienced School Caretaker to join a specialist SEMH school catering for pupils from primary through secondary age. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the school site daily
- General site maintenance, repairs, and minor DIY tasks
- Ensuring health & safety compliance across the school grounds
- Carrying out regular site checks and risk assessments
- Managing heating, lighting, alarms, and basic facilities systems
- Liaising with contractors and supervising works on site
- Supporting the wider school team as required
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar caretaker or site manager role (essential)
- Experience working within a school or educational setting preferred
- Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
- Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Calm, professional manner suited to an SEMH setting
