Veritas Education is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in education and want to gain hands-on classroom experience before pursuing teacher training.
About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, departments, and pastoral teams to help raise attainment and support learners across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role may include one-to-one support, small-group intervention work, lesson support, and general classroom assistance.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting teaching and learning across a range of subjects
- Working with students who require additional support
- Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom management
- Leading small intervention groups where required
- Maintaining safeguarding and behaviour standards in line with DfE and school policies
- Building positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
Requirements
- A degree in any subject (recent or upcoming graduates welcome)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for supporting young people
- A proactive, confident, and professional approach
- Some experience working with young people (formal or informal) is beneficial
- A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
