School Cook - SEN School Start Date: ASAP Pay: £14 - £16 per hour
Are you an experienced cook with a passion for making a difference?
Veritas Education are recruiting for a School Cook to work in an Outstanding SEN School. We are keen to hear from candidates who have experience in catering and a genuine interest in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in students' daily wellbeing by providing nutritious, balanced meals in a safe and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals in line with school food standards.
Cater for a range of dietary requirements, allergies, and specialist needs.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness in line with Food Safety regulations.
Manage stock control, ordering, and food storage appropriately.
Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure a positive lunchtime experience for students.
Promote a calm and inclusive dining environment, understanding the additional needs of SEN pupils.
Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have previous experience as a cook, ideally within a school or care setting.
Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Food Hygiene Certificate.
Have knowledge of allergen management and specialist diets.
Be patient, adaptable, and understanding of students with additional needs.
Be organised, reliable, and able to work independently.
Have a positive attitude and commitment to supporting children's wellbeing.
