If you've coached sports or supported young people in any setting - your skills are exactly what Teesside secondary schools are looking for.
Veritas Education is expanding across the North‑East, and we're supporting multiple schools who want long‑term or permanent Cover Supervisors - ideal for people with a sports, coaching, or youth work background who want stability, purpose, and a rewarding career path.
Why Sports Coaches Make Great Cover Supervisors
If you have experience in:
- Coaching children or young people
- Managing groups during training or activities
- Communicating instructions clearly
- Motivating teams
- Keeping sessions structured, safe, and positive …then you already have the core foundations schools value most.
We'll help you transition confidently into the classroom.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Lead lessons in the absence of the teacher
- Use your coaching presence to keep students engaged and on task
- Bring energy, structure, and leadership to every class
- Build rapport with students and become a familiar, trusted face
- Support learning across a variety of subjects
- Make a genuine difference in local schools every day
Long‑term and permanent opportunities are available - perfect for those wanting consistency and career progression.
What We're Looking For
You do not need teaching qualifications. We are especially keen to hear from people with:
- Sports coaching or team leadership background
- Youth club, community sport, or mentoring experience
- Experience working with young people aged 11-18
- Confidence speaking to groups and leading activities
- Strong behaviour management or organisational skills
If you've coached football, rugby, dance, gymnastics, martial arts, cricket, athletics - or anything involving structured youth engagement - you could thrive in this role!
What You'll Get
- Competitive weekly pay (PAYE)
- Priority access to long‑term placements and permanent school roles
- Access to free online CPD training to upskill
- A dedicated consultant supporting you throughout (me!)
- Opportunities across Teesside, including Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar, Billingham & Darlington
- A chance to build a real career in education
