SEN Teaching Assistant / Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Warrington Start Date: ASAP Pay: £90-£100 per day
Are you resilient, proactive, and passionate about supporting young people with complex needs? Veritas Education are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a challenging SEN secondary school in Warrington, supporting students with a range of additional needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural difficulties.
This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.
The Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to engage with learning and manage their behaviour positively.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students with SEN and behavioural needs
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
Implementing de-escalation strategies and supporting students during periods of heightened behaviour
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and social development
Monitoring student progress and feeding back to teaching staff
Supporting learning in line with the National Curriculum, adapted to individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience or a strong interest in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support, or alternative provision
Be calm, patient, and confident when managing challenging behaviour
Show commitment, consistency, and a genuine desire to support young people
Be able to build strong, professional relationships with students and staff
Be reliable, adaptable, and emotionally resilient
Experience is welcomed but not essential - we are happy to consider unqualified SEN Teaching Assistants with relevant transferable experience (youth work, care, sports coaching, mental health support, etc.).
