Veritas Education are working with a highly regarded Ofsted Outstanding primary school in Islington, who are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
The Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and class teacher, providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs. You will help the child access the curriculum, regulate emotions, develop confidence, and engage fully in school life. This role requires patience, resilience, creativity, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, communication and language needs).
- Adapt activities and learning materials to ensure accessibility.
- Implement personalised learning strategies and behaviour-support plans.
- Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
- Maintain a calm, consistent and nurturing presence in the classroom.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary setting.
- Strong understanding of strategies for communication, regulation and behaviour support.
- A positive, patient and proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- A genuine passion for helping children thrive.
- Relevant training or qualifications (desirable but not essential).
