Job Advert: SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School in Islington Start Date: January
Veritas Education is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support, adapting learning activities and ensuring each child receives the guidance and encouragement they need to make progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND, including 1:1 and group work
- Assist in planning and delivering tailored interventions
- Adapt resources and approaches to meet individual needs
- Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO and external professionals
- Contribute to creating an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment
Requirements
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant - essential
- Strong understanding of a range of special educational needs
- Ability to implement strategies to support learning, behaviour and communication
- Patience, empathy and a proactive approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
