Location: Stockton-on-Tees Start Date: ASAP Daily Rate: £85-£95 Contract Type: Long-term temporary (with potential to go permanent) Working Hours: Full-time, term-time only
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of neurodiverse children and young people? A specialist independent school in Stockton-on-Tees is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join their team supporting learners aged 5-19.
This setting offers a highly personalised and inclusive approach to education, with a strong belief in recognising the unique strengths and potential of every individual. Their curriculum is tailored to promote social and economic inclusion, independence, and lifelong learning.
The Role:
You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support students with autism and associated needs. This includes:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support
- Assisting with communication and sensory needs
- Supporting behaviour through positive strategies
- Encouraging independence and participation in learning
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in care work, SEN, or supporting neurodiverse individuals
- Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Comfortable with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Training in restraint or behaviour management is beneficial (but full training is provided)
- Will have an enhanced DBS (child and adult) registered on the Update Service
