EYFS Teaching Assistant

Location: Bolton Contract Type: Full Time Salary: 13.68 - 16.15 Start Date: January 2026 or sooner

Job Description

We are seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant early years team. The successful candidate will support the class teacher in delivering high-quality education and care to children aged 3-5, helping to create a stimulating and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • Assist in planning and implementing engaging activities that promote learning through play.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children, including those with additional needs.
  • Observe and record children's progress, contributing to learning journals and assessments.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Support children with personal care needs when required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and carers.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
  • Requirements

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years, or Teaching Assistance (or equivalent).
  • Experience working within an EYFS setting (nursery or reception).
  • Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Desirable

  • Experience supporting children with SEN or EAL.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of phonics schemes such as Read Write Inc or Jolly Phonics.

    Experience
    Supporting children aged 3-5 in a nursery or reception class. Assisting with phonics, early numeracy, and literacy activities. Helping with play-based learning and structured routines. Managing small group activities and 1:1 support. Familiarity with the EYFS statutory framework and learning goals. Observing and recording children's progress against EYFS outcomes
