Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning in Key Stage 2. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to provide high-quality support to pupils, helping them to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the KS2 curriculum.
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning objectives and provide targeted interventions.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND, EAL, or behavioural challenges.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
  • Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and on school trips as required.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to ensure consistent support for all learners.
  • Uphold the school's safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
  • Person Specification

    Essential:

  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring, and flexible approach to supporting children's learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Desirable:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE, NCFE).
  • Experience supporting pupils in Key Stage 2.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Experience working with children with SEND or behavioural needs.
  • First Aid and/or Safeguarding training.

    Experience
    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Proven experience teaching in a KS2 classroom (Years 3-6), ideally across multiple year groups. Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and effective delivery of core subjects (English, Maths, Science). Experience with differentiated instruction to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners.
