Facilities Manager
Location: Southwark Contract: Full-time, permanent Start Date: As soon as possible
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to lead the operational management of our academy site. You will ensure that our buildings and grounds are safe, efficient, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors.
This role covers all aspects of premises operations, including maintenance, cleaning, security, lettings, health and safety, and contractor management. You'll lead a small team, manage budgets, and play a vital role in creating an environment where learning can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day site operations and maintenance.
Manage the premises team and ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Lead on health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and training.
Coordinate contractors and ensure value for money across all facilities services.
Monitor and optimise energy use to support sustainability goals.
Act as principal key holder and respond to site emergencies when needed.
Support school events and lettings, ensuring facilities are well-prepared.
About You
Proven experience in facilities, estates, or site management (school experience preferred).
Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations.
Ability to manage budgets and multiple priorities.
Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills.
NEBOSH/IOSH qualification (or willingness to train) is desirable.
