Residential Childcare Officer Pay: £23,000 + year Full-time/ Term Time onlyChelmsford, Essex Hours: Night shifts - Mon-Thu 2pm-10:15pm and Fri 9am -2pm
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient Residential Childcare Officer to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of young people. Working within one of our warm and supportive residential homes, you will be part of a team providing high-quality care and support for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Residential Childcare Officer Role:
* Provide day-to-day care for children and young people in a safe, nurturing environment* Support children with daily routines, education, health, and emotional well-being* Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model* Encourage positive behaviour and manage challenging situations calmly and professionally* Help young people develop independence, social skills, and self-confidence* Keep accurate records and contribute to care planning and reviews* Work closely with other professionals, families, and external agencies
Residential Childcare Officer Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people (residential or similar setting preferred)* Understanding of trauma-informed care and safeguarding practices* Resilient, calm under pressure, and emotionally intelligent* Excellent communication and teamworking skills* Flexible and reliable - able to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins* [Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent] - or willingness to work towards * Must have a drivers license
