Residential Night Awake Childcare Officer Pay: £23,000 + year Full-time/ Term Time onlyChelmsford, Essex Hours: Night shifts - Mon-Thu 9:45pm-8:30am - 40 hours
We are seeking a compassionate, vigilant, and dedicated Residential Night Awake Childcare Officer to join our care team supporting children and young people in a safe, nurturing residential setting.Working through the night, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a stable and secure environment, offering emotional reassurance and support to children who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or complex challenges.This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety, welfare, and comfort of the children during the overnight hours.
Residential Night Awake Role:* Carry out routine checks and observations of children throughout the night.* Be alert and responsive to the emotional or physical needs of children who may wake or require attention.* Complete accurate and timely records, including logs and incident reports.* Support a smooth handover to day staff at the end of each shift.* Respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents following safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
Residential Night Awake Requirements:* Experience working with children or young people (desirable, not essential).* A calm, compassionate, and resilient nature.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* The ability to stay alert, focused, and responsive throughout night shifts.* A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
