We are seeking a dedicated Primary Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic and nurturing alternative provision that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners who require additional support outside mainstream education.

This provision offers a personalised, trauma-informed, and supportive learning environment, helping pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. Staff are welcoming, collaborative, and committed to ensuring every child is supported to achieve their potential.

The Right Candidate Will:

Hold HLTA status (or be working towards it) with experience in a primary setting.

Have a strong background in working with pupils with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs.

Be able to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.

Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to personalised learning and behaviour support plans.

Bring a positive, patient, and resilient attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children.

Use creativity and enthusiasm to engage learners in a safe and structured environment.

The Role:

Support teaching and learning across the primary phase (KS1 & KS2), including leading planned lessons and interventions.

Deliver targeted SEMH strategies that promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills.

Adapt learning resources and approaches to ensure accessibility for all pupils.

Provide small group and 1:1 support, fostering pupil confidence and independence.

Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to teaching staff, SENDCo, and external agencies where appropriate.

Actively contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all children.

What We Offer:

A supportive and welcoming team dedicated to pupil well-being and development.

Opportunities for professional growth and training in SEMH strategies and inclusive education.

A chance to play a vital role in transforming the educational experiences of pupils who cannot access mainstream school.

A vibrant, alternative provision where every day brings new challenges and rewards.
