SEMH Teacher - Stevenage
Start date: September 2025 Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN allowance Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire Contract: Full-time, long-term with view to permanent
This school is looking for someone with a calm, restorative approach to join their small SEMH unit. Based on the edge of Stevenage, they support secondary-aged students who've struggled in mainstream and need a different kind of classroom environment - smaller groups, more structure, and strong emotional support.
The school has good systems in place and a real team spirit, but they've struggled to recruit locally. If you've worked in a PRU, alternative provision or with students with SEMH needs before, this could be a brilliant opportunity to step into a more specialist setting.
You'll need:
QTS or QTLS (or equivalent)
A genuine interest in supporting students with social, emotional or behavioural needs
Confidence leading learning with a flexible and trauma-informed approach
The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and would suit someone commuting from North Herts, Letchworth, Welwyn or Cambridge. There's flexibility on subject specialism - they're more interested in the right person than a perfect CV.
