We are currently seeking a qualified Secondary Teacher for a Cover Teacher/Cover Supervisor role at a secondary school based in the borough of Newham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and experienced professional to step into a supportive role, covering absent teachers and ensuring students continue to engage with their studies.
Key Responsibilities for Cover Teacher/Cover Supervisor:
- Independently cover lessons across the school in the absence of teaching staff
- Support students with learning difficulties and promote their engagement with the curriculum
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students stay on track
- Encourage proactive participation and foster a positive learning environment
- Help students meet their academic goals and attain their potential
- Manage student behaviour effectively, ensuring a focused classroom atmosphere
- Provide a safe and respectful learning environment
- Liaise with senior staff and colleagues to ensure smooth operations
Requirements:
- QTS or equivalent
- Strong understanding of the UK curriculum
- Previous experience as a cover teacher/cover supervisor
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Good knowledge of safeguarding practices
- Enhanced DBS check (online update required) and two references on file
