This amazing opportunity at an OFSTED 'Good' school in Islington, North London looking to hire a Teaching Assistant for a KS2 classroom for the beginning of the academic year. Recent graduates or experienced teaching assistants are welcome to apply. This is achieved through the staff working together, with the families and the wider community, to support the development of well-rounded young adults.
As a KS2 Teaching Assistant you will be tasked with the responsibility of providing support to all the children in the classroom, helping with interventions for underperforming pupils, assisting SEN pupils one to one and aiding the higher achieving students when necessary.
This Islington based Primary school is 2-form entry with supportive staff across the year group that are happy to assist new staff members settle into their new setting. Furthermore, its closely located to a tube station and unparalleled transport links.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:
- Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
- Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
- Implement group or 1:1 intervention to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
- Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
Qualifications needs as a Teaching Assistant:
Desirable for a Teaching Assistant:
- An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
