Behavioural Support Assistant
Pay: £90-£110 per day
Full-time/ Term Time only
Haringey, North London
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, your role will be to provide targeted support to students who require additional help to manage their behaviour and emotions. Working under the direction of senior staff and pastoral leads, you will deliver interventions, support behaviour management strategies, and promote a safe and positive environment
Behavioural Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Using de-escalation strategies and promoting positive behaviour reinforcement
- Assisting teachers in creating inclusive learning environments
- Monitoring and recording behaviour patterns and progress
- Providing emotional support to help build resilience and confidence
- Encouraging students to develop appropriate social skills and peer relationships
- Supporting pupils during unstructured times, such as break and lunch, to ensure safety and engagement
- Helping to maintain a calm, safe, and respectful learning environment
- Liaising with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals where appropriate
- Contributing to team meetings and reviews of student progress
- Supporting restorative approaches and conflict resolution strategies
Behavioural Support Assistant Requirements:
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and its impact on behaviour (desirable)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to remain composed and professional in high-pressure or crisis situations
- Willingness to work flexibly across different age groups and settings within the school
- Ability to follow and implement support plans and behaviour management strategies effectively
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and reporting
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
