Senior Support Worker
Location: Preston / Blackburn Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Shifts: 3 Long Day Shifts followed by 4 Days Off (3-week rolling rota) Salary: £14.68 per hour + £250 Referral Bonus
Role Purpose:
To support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of a registered children's home, ensuring high-quality care for children and young people. The Team Leader will oversee a staff team, ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and Children's Home Regulations, and act as a role model in delivering best practice in care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
For Young People:
- Safeguard and promote welfare, dignity, and equality.
- Lead on placement and positive behaviour support planning.
- Support with communication tools (e.g., SmartBox, PECs, Now & Next boards).
- Ensure enriching social opportunities and involvement in the local community.
- Liaise with families and external agencies professionally.
- Maintain therapeutic programmes, health & safety, and clean, homely environments.
For Staff and Leadership:
- Supervise, coach, and mentor support staff.
- Conduct regular supervision and appraisals.
- Ensure compliance with training and development plans.
- Uphold professional standards and address performance concerns.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
Quality & Compliance:
- Maintain and present high-quality evidence of compliance with Ofsted's 9 Quality Standards.
- Create and execute a Quality Improvement Plan.
- Lead by example in delivering person-centred care and active support.
Operational Duties:
- Responsible for rota creation aligned with staffing budgets.
- Monitor and complete daily tasks (e.g., "golden hour" checklist).
- Use and promote visual/communication aids effectively.
- Coordinate with other departments (education, therapy, maintenance, etc.)
