Temporary School Caretaker - York, North Yorkshire
Location: Various Schools across York Employment Type: Temporary / Flexible Work. Some split shifts may be requiredSalary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Are you an experienced caretaker looking for flexible, temporary work in schools across York? Veritas Education is currently seeking skilled and reliable Caretakers to work on a temporary basis across a range of primary and secondary schools in York, North Yorkshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous caretaking, site management, or facilities experience who enjoys variety and is confident stepping into different school environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Opening and closing school premises, ensuring site security
General maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
Ensuring health and safety standards are met
Supporting cleaning staff and ensuring cleanliness across the site
Setting up rooms for school events or meetings
Reporting any issues or hazards to senior staff
Grounds maintenance and occasional porter duties
Requirements:
Previous caretaking or facilities management experience (preferably in a school or public setting)
A proactive, reliable, and flexible attitude
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Good understanding of health & safety practices
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Driving licence and own transport desirable (due to travel between school sites)
