Nurture Teacher (Year 8) Location: West Drayton Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-Time Only) Salary: £180 - £220+ per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurture Teacher to join a specialist secondary provision supporting students aged 11-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This position will focus on leading a Year 8 nurture group, delivering a carefully tailored curriculum that builds confidence, resilience, and academic progress while addressing barriers to learning. You will work closely with a small cohort of students, creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where they can thrive both socially and academically.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across core subjects and personal development areas for a Year 8 nurture group.
- Implement nurture group principles, focusing on emotional regulation, social skills, and academic catch-up.
- Support individualised learning programmes that meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
- Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment, encouraging students to build trust, self-esteem, and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support student progress.
- Monitor and report on academic and personal development outcomes, adapting strategies as required.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) is essential.
- Experience teaching students with SEMH needs, ideally within a nurture or specialist provision setting.
- Knowledge of nurture group principles and trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to plan and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum for Key Stage 3.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills, with a calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- A passion for helping disadvantaged young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
