This position will focus on leading a Year 8 nurture group, delivering a carefully tailored curriculum that builds confidence, resilience, and academic progress while addressing barriers to learning. You will work closely with a small cohort of students, creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where they can thrive both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across core subjects and personal development areas for a Year 8 nurture group.
  • Implement nurture group principles, focusing on emotional regulation, social skills, and academic catch-up.
  • Support individualised learning programmes that meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
  • Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment, encouraging students to build trust, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support student progress.
  • Monitor and report on academic and personal development outcomes, adapting strategies as required.
  • Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching students with SEMH needs, ideally within a nurture or specialist provision setting.
  • Knowledge of nurture group principles and trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to plan and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum for Key Stage 3.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills, with a calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • A passion for helping disadvantaged young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
  • Why Join Us?

  • An opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people with SEMH needs.
  • Be part of a dedicated and supportive team that values collaboration and professional growth.
  • Access to ongoing CPD and training opportunities in SEMH, nurture, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Rewarding work in a small-class environment where relationships are at the heart of learning.
  • Additional Information
