Veritas Education are working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Lewisham, South East London, to recruit a passionate and committed Year 1 Teacher to join their Key Stage 1 team from September 2025.
This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is known for its strong values, supportive leadership, and dedication to providing a nurturing learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for a vibrant Year 1 class and will play a key role in supporting pupils' smooth transition from Early Years into more structured learning.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher with a love for early learning, who is confident in delivering the KS1 curriculum in a creative, engaging, and inclusive way.
The Ideal Year 1 Teacher Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally in Year 1
Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and phonics programmes (e.g., Read Write Inc or Letters and Sounds)
A creative, engaging approach to planning and delivering lessons
Excellent classroom management and high expectations for all learners
A nurturing, patient, and reflective teaching style
Main Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities Include:
Teaching all areas of the Year 1 curriculum to a high standard
Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic and personal development
Supporting pupils' progress in phonics, reading, writing, and maths
Creating a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment
Working closely with colleagues, support staff, and parents to support pupils' development
Providing pastoral care and helping pupils to develop social and emotional skills
Participating in after-school clubs and contributing to the wider school community
