  • Veritas Education are working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Lewisham, South East London, to recruit a passionate and committed Year 1 Teacher to join their Key Stage 1 team from September 2025.

    This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is known for its strong values, supportive leadership, and dedication to providing a nurturing learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for a vibrant Year 1 class and will play a key role in supporting pupils' smooth transition from Early Years into more structured learning.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher with a love for early learning, who is confident in delivering the KS1 curriculum in a creative, engaging, and inclusive way.

    The Ideal Year 1 Teacher Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally in Year 1

  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and phonics programmes (e.g., Read Write Inc or Letters and Sounds)

  • A creative, engaging approach to planning and delivering lessons

  • Excellent classroom management and high expectations for all learners

  • A nurturing, patient, and reflective teaching style

  • Main Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching all areas of the Year 1 curriculum to a high standard

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic and personal development

  • Supporting pupils' progress in phonics, reading, writing, and maths

  • Creating a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment

  • Working closely with colleagues, support staff, and parents to support pupils' development

  • Providing pastoral care and helping pupils to develop social and emotional skills

  • Participating in after-school clubs and contributing to the wider school community
