A primary school in Hayes is seeking a committed and compassionate Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning programmes across varied classroom settings. Working closely with the class teacher, you'll help plan and deliver targeted support, especially for learners with SEND, while also taking initiative to respond to pupils' emerging needs.
This role involves:
- Supporting children academically and socially to access the curriculum
- Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning plans
- Encouraging learner engagement and independence
- Collaborating with staff and external professionals to remove barriers to learning
- Helping to maintain a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment
- Supervising pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and educational visits
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous childcare experience is essential (e.g., school, nursery, early years, SEND setting)
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting individual pupil needs
- Strong communication skills and a calm, caring manner
- Confidence to work both independently and collaboratively
- Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and classroom routines
Desirable:
- Experience working with children with SEND
- Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent)
- Knowledge of phonics, literacy, numeracy, and early child development strategies
