SEN Mentor
Location: West Drayton Contract Type: Full-Time (Term Time Only) Salary: £160 - £185 per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Start Date: September 2025 or sooner
The Role
A specialist post-16 education provider in the West Drayton area is seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Mentor to support learners aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will deliver structured, engaging sessions in small groups, focused on vocational learning, functional skills, and personal development. The setting provides a practical and therapeutic environment, supporting students with EHCPs to build independence, confidence, and employment-readiness.
This role suits someone patient, consistent, and passionate about inclusive education and empowering young adults with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored teaching and mentoring sessions for learners with diverse SEND profiles
- Adapt lessons to suit learners' individual EHCP goals, including literacy, numeracy, life skills, and employability
- Monitor, record, and review learner progress through individualised learning plans
- Support social, emotional, and behavioural development using person-centred approaches
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure holistic, consistent support
- Ensure safeguarding and well-being standards are upheld at all times
Requirements
- Experience working with young adults aged 16-25 with SEND, particularly SEMH, Autism, or learning difficulties
- Ideally hold a Level 2 or higher teaching, tutoring, or mentoring qualification (or be willing to train)
- Confident adapting teaching to suit a variety of learning styles and needs
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and connect with vulnerable learners
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to inclusive education
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
