SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant - St Albans

£110 per day | Full-time | Umbrella pay | DBS required

We're looking for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a young secondary aged girl at a specialist provision in St Albans. The role starts September and involves one-to-one support across the school day.

About the school:

  • Specialist setting catering for secondary pupils with SEMH and associated needs

  • Strong pastoral approach, clear routines, and excellent multi-agency support

  • Staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation

  • The role:

  • Building trust and consistency with one pupil

  • Supporting emotional regulation and focus in lessons

  • Encouraging positive choices, social skills, and academic engagement

  • Liaising with therapists, parents and key workers

  • You'll need:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, trauma, or similar needs

  • Boundaries, patience, and a calm, steady presence

  • A real belief in second chances and pupil potential
