Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Pay: £110-£120 per day
Full-time/ Term Time only
Islington, North London
As an HLTA, you will work closely with academic staff to support teaching, learning, and assessment, as well as mentor junior teaching assistants. You may also lead small group sessions, deliver tutorials under guidance, assist in curriculum planning, and help ensure students are supported both academically and personally.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Role:
- Provide advanced academic support in lectures, labs, seminars, and/or tutorials
- Deliver or co-deliver lessons or learning activities under lecturer supervision
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of teaching materials and assessments
- Mentor and coordinate the work of Teaching Assistants and student support staff
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Support students with diverse needs, including SEND or ESL learners (if applicable)
- Contribute to curriculum development discussions and course evaluations
- Support administrative duties related to teaching and assessment
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar academic support role
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Confidence in leading small group teaching and supporting diverse learners
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required
- A relevant HLTA qualification
