Are you a Future Science Teacher looking to gain valuable classroom experience before starting your teaching journey? Veritas Education are working with a STEM focused secondary school in Haringey, North London, who are looking for Science Teaching Assistants to start in the upcoming academic year. The school nurture and build up future Science Teachers, and are looking for bright graduates interested in a career in education to join them.
The school are part of a leading trust that offer a teacher training scheme, and are confident in their ability to support trainee teachers during their training. They have put several of their Science and Maths TAs through teacher training over the last few years, and see the value in training brilliant teachers in house.
About the Role:
As a Science Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering engaging and inspiring science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work closely with students, including those who need additional support to access the curriculum, and help prepare practical resources, manage classroom activities, and reinforce subject content. There will be opportunties to start running STEM interventions, revision sessions and teaching lessons during your time in the role.
This role is ideal for:
Science graduates (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related fields like Maths)
Individuals planning to apply for a PGCE, Schools Direct, or other teacher training routes
Those who want a deeper understanding of school life and the teaching profession
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils in lessons, both in small groups and one-to-one, to help them engage with and understand scientific concepts
Assist with the preparation and organisation of practical experiments and classroom resources
Work with teachers to monitor student progress and provide feedback
Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Develop your own classroom presence and behaviour management skills under the guidance of experienced teachers
What We're Looking For:
A degree in a science-related subject (or in final year of study)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A genuine interest in working with young people and pursuing a career in education
Enthusiasm, initiative, and a proactive approach to learning and development
- Experience with children on young people in some capacity, for example Tutoring
Previous experience in schools is a bonus but not essential
